Its negative impact on livelihoods, development, and trade are well documented. The trade is affected primarily by reputational risks and market forgery due to the low prices and sometimes difficult tracing of illegal harvested timber. Read more
C – To support sustainable use of forest resources, some Governments develop specific Procurement Guidelines. They demand the documentation of high environmental standards from timber suppliers. The timber trade has to verify supply chains and document the legal harvest and sustainability of its products. Read more
